HC Deb 30 June 1944 vol 401 c941W
Mr. Henderson Stewart

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give an assurance that His Majesty's Government will not be committed to any agreement arrived at by the forthcoming Monetary Conference in Washington; and that the matter will first be debated in the House of Commons before any decision is taken by His Majesty's Government.

Sir J. Anderson

The proposals formulated at the Conference will be referred to the respective Governments for acceptance or rejection. The question of a Debate in the House will at that time be fully considered.
