HC Deb 21 June 1944 vol 401 c202W
Sir F. Sanderson

asked the Prime Minister whether the Royal Commission on Equal Pay for Men and Women has now been set up; and whether he can give the names of those appointed to sit on the Commission.

Mr. Attlee

I have at present nothing to add to the replies which I gave to the hon. Member for Rugby (Mr. W. J. Brown) on 6th and 15th June.

Mr. W. J. Brown

asked the Prime Minister (1) whether he can now announce the personnel and terms of reference of the proposal Royal Commission on Equal Pay;

(2) whether he will ask the proposed Royal Commission on Equal Pay to report within a reasonable period of time, say, six months.

The Prime Minister

As regards the composition and terms of reference of the Royal Commission, I have at present nothing to add to the replies which I have already given to the hon. Member. While I have noted his suggestion that the Commission should be asked to report within a given period of time, I doubt whether an instruction of that kind would be either desirable or practicable.
