§ Mr. Granvilleasked the Prime Minister if he will mark the occasion of the formal agreement between Great Britain, the U.S.A. and the French Committee of Liberation by broadcasting a message of liberation to the people of France who have borne with fortitude the sufferings of enemy occupation and whose homes are subject to the stress and strain of the decisive battles in the final stages of the war.
§ The Prime MinisterSir, the Foreign Secretary sent an inspiring message to France on the occasion of the 14th of July. I saw the last parade of the French Army and Empire on 14th July, 1939, and I earnestly hope that I shall have the chance to see another. I am always thinking about a good opportunity of making a broadcast to them, but I should like to choose this occasion for myself.
