HC Deb 18 February 1944 vol 397 cc507-8W
Mr. M. MacMillan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what decision he has arrived at with regard to proposals for erection of prefabricated and/or other wooden houses at Stornoway as an immediate contribution to easing the housing needs.

Mr. Johnston

As I informed the hon. and gallant Member for Ayr Burghs (Sir T. Moore) on 15th February the question of the provision of prefabricated houses is being urgently investigated, and I hope to make a statement after the completion of a prototype prefabricated house for emergency use which is at present being erected for the Ministry of Works.
