HC Deb 21 December 1944 vol 406 c1968W
Mr. Viant

asked the Minister of Health how many cases of diphtheria in immunised children under 15 years of age were notified during the first six months of this year; and how many fatal cases were recorded in immunised children.

Mr. Willink

According to returns received from all but a few local authorities in England and Wales, 2,243 cases of diphtheria among immunised children were notified during the first half of this year, as against 6,743 among non-immunised children. The number of deaths among immunised children was 16, compared with 368 among children not so protected.
