§ Mr. I. Thomasasked the Secretary of State for War for what reasons Field-Marshal Alexander advised Italian patriots by a radio message, on 12th November, to cease large-scale operations; and whether this advice has the approval of His Majesty's Government.
§ Sir J. GriggIt would not be in the public interest to state these reasons. But as I have seen the suggestion made, I can state that a desire or intention to abandon the patriots to the tender mercies of the Germans wasnot one of the reasons.
