HL Deb 12 December 1944 vol 134 c282WA
LORD BARNBY

asked His Majesty's Government whether, in supplement to their plans for general demobilization already announced, they will make known without delay the facilities and conditions contemplated for assisted migration to the Dominions.

VISCOUNT CRANBORNE

The noble Lord will recall that I made a full statement on May 24 as to the attitude of His Majesty's Government towards assisted migration to the Dominions, including facilities for men and women discharged from the Forces. As the noble Lord knows, His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom are, for their part, very ready to encourage and assist inter-Imperial migration. But the matter is one as much, if not more, for Dominion Governments as for us, and it is still under discussion with them.

House adjourned at twenty-two minutes past four o'clock.
