§ Mr. Gledhillasked the President of the Board of Trade how many licences have been or are being issued for the manufacture of carpets, linoleum and other floor coverings; whether stocks of raw materials are to be made available; and whether he has consulted with the Ministry of Labour to ensure that sufficient weavers are also released from other work.
§ Mr. DaltonFifty-five firms have been licensed to make carpets, 66 to make rugs and eight to make substitute linoleum and felt base. The maximum quantity of raw materials which can be spared for this purpose is being allocated to these firms. I am in touch with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Labour about their labour requirements.
