HL Deb 05 December 1944 vol 134 cc129-30WA
VISCOUNT DEVONPORT

asked His Majesty's Government whether they are aware of dissatisfaction with the regulations which obtain as to the dim-out in certain areas; and whether an instruction might not be issued to local A.R.P. authorities to use their discretion as to the re-imposition of the black-out.

THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (THE EARL OF MUNSTER)

The decision to allow a "half light" relaxation in parts of the country is one that the Government has made after weighing all relevant considerations. It would be inappropriate to allow local authorities to impose in particular areas greater restrictions than the Government had considered necessary.

House adjourned at eighteen minutes before five o'clock.
