§ Mr. Hoggasked the President of the Board of Trade what preparations have been made in 1944 for the restoration and extension after the war of British trade in Egypt, Italy and the Middle East.
§ Mr. JohnstoneI would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given to his Question 1615W on 1st August. For the present we must concentrate on seeing that wartime needs are met, but our post-war prospects in Egypt and the Middle East are under constant examination. So long as Italy remains a theatre of war it would be premature to make detailed preparations for post-war trade in that market.
