§ Mr. Petherickasked the First Lord of the Admiralty how many persons are to be appointed to the cinema branch of the Navy under the provisions of the Order in Council of 24th March 1922 (S.R. & O., No. 333, of 1944,); and what is the estimated annual cost of this new branch of the Navy.
Mr. AlexanderThe ultimate number is expected to be about 2,000 persons and the cost about £300,000 a year. It will be understood that there are offsets to this both in personnel and money of practically equivalent amount, as the Order deals with a matter of re-organisation; not expansion of present arrangements.
