§ Mr. Tinkerasked the Minister of Fuel and Power if he will give the figures showing the output from open cast mining for 1943 and the anticipated yield for 1944.
Major Lloyd GeorgeThe production for the year ended 29th December, 1943, was 4,426,700 tons. The production from that date to 22nd March, 1944, amounted to 1,247,000 tons. Regarding the remainder of 1944, the production will depend on the amount of machinery obtained from the United States and on the date by which that machinery arrives and can be brought into service. The production depends also on the extent to which transport can be made available for this work.
