HC Deb 23 September 1943 vol 392 c431W
Mr. Liddall

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether the accountancy system of the Potato Marketing Board, which broke down last February, is now working efficiently; and whether all claims lodged by the board or the producer in respect to that period have been satisfactorily settled?

Mr. Mabane

The Potato Marketing Scheme was suspended on 20th December, 1939, and claims for potatoes sold to my Department are settled direct with the grower and not through the Board. The Ministry's accountancy system did not break down in February, 1943, and is working satisfactorily at the present time. I am not aware of any payment outstanding in respect of a transaction which took place during that month.
