HC Deb 23 September 1943 vol 392 cc437-8W
Mr. Hammersley

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what steps he has taken to inform the Government of the United States that the revised White Plan of international monetary stabilisation, with its increased emphasis on the use of gold, makes international co-operation for the stability of exchange rates more difficult for Great Britain?

Mr. Assheton

Informal discussions are now proceeding in Washington between representatives of the British Treasury and members of the United States Treasury on various plans for post-war international co-operation in the monetary field and all relevant matters will be raised in these discussions.
