HC Deb 23 September 1943 vol 392 c451W
Mr. Liddall

asked the Home Secretary the names of the religious organisations which have been approached on the subject of the Fixed Easter Day Act, the latest date on which approaches were made to these organisations and what replies were received?

Mr. H. Morrison

It would, I fear, be difficult to compress within the compass of a reply to a Parliamentary Question a comprehensive account of all the consultations with religious organisations which have taken place since the passing of the Easter Act of 1928, but perhaps it will serve my hon. Friend's purpose if I refer him to the published report of the League of Nations of August, 1934, on the stabilisation of movable feasts. This report contains a lengthy summary of the views of religious authorities.
