HC Deb 22 September 1943 vol 392 cc248-9W
Mr. Rostron Duckworth

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether any steps are being taken to ensure that substantial quantities of stone for building and roads are being amassed for post-war requirements?

Mr. Noel-Baker

The present supply of labour for the quarries is only enough to meet the current demand for stone. There should, however, be no difficulty in meeting post-war requirements, if, as we may hope, the necessary labour, transport and plant are available.
