HC Deb 22 September 1943 vol 392 c248W
Mr. W. Brown

asked the Minister of Information why the Postal and Telegraph Censorship Department has been separated from the Ministry of Information?

Mr. Thurtle

The Postal and Telegraph Censorship has come to be an organisation with many complicated responsibilities, and it was considered that it would be more conveniently administered as a Department separate from the Ministry of Information under a Director-General directly responsible to my right hon. Friend.
