HC Deb 22 September 1943 vol 392 c238W
Mr. W. Brown

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power why he requires a permit to be obtained for the installation of an electric stove in the upper part of premises which possess a gas stove on the ground floor?

Major Lloyd George

In present circumstances in order to conserve materials and man-power it has been necessary to arrange that supplies of electricity should only be given and electrical appliances should only be installed where they are clearly required either for, or in connection with, the war effort, or for domestic or other purposes where serious and exceptional hardship would result if supplies were not provided. If my hon. Friend will send me details of any case which he has in mind, I shall be glad to have it investigated.
