HC Deb 21 September 1943 vol 392 c56W
Sir W. Smithers

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether the Government's agreement with the railways stands until we are no longer at war with anybody, or whether it only stands for a year after we have beaten Germany?

Mr. Noel-Baker

The agreement provides that control will be continued for a minimum period of one year after the cessation of hostilities, and it would be premature at this stage to seek to determine its exact duration.
