HC Deb 21 September 1943 vol 392 c44W
Major Procter

asked the Secretary of State for War whether soldiers in North Africa are all supplied with glasses as a preventive against sand affection of the eyes?

Sir J. Grigg

Protective goggles are issued in North Africa to men most liable to suffer from the effects of sand, in particular to men in tanks and to those driving motor vehicles, and dark glasses are issued to men who need protection from glare.
