Mr. McNeilasked the Secretary of State for Air how many dwelling-houses his Ministry has, since the outbreak of war, requisitioned, bought, rented or otherwise acquired for service use in a burgh of which he has been informed; what is the total of bedrooms and of public rooms 56W thus removed from public use; how many of these rooms are now used otherwise than as dwellings; and what other buildings, or parts of buildings, have been similarly acquired in this area over the same period?
§ Sir A. SinclairSince the outbreak of war the Air Ministry has requisitioned 11 houses, with a total of 58 rooms, and has arranged six hirings, comprising nine rooms, in the burgh referred to. One of the houses has since been de-requisitioned and all the hirings have been surrendered. The total number of rooms removed from public use is now 48, of which six are in use otherwise than as dwellings. In the same period, the Air Ministry requisitioned 11 other buildings, comprising five halls, two clubs, a school annex, a public baths, a bandstand and a garage. Two of the halls and the garage are no longer on requisition.
