§ Mr. Hewlettasked the Secretary of State for War how many welfare officers have been appointed for overseas work; whether any of them were drawn from welfare officers at home; whether home welfare officers are given the opportunity of offering their services for overseas work and, if not, whether their claims will be considered?
§ Sir J. GriggThirty welfare officers have been appointed by the War Office for work overseas and some others have been appointed locally. None has been drawn from welfare officers serving at home. Any such officer within the age limit for service abroad who wishes to serve abroad will be considered but, as I indicated in my reply to my hon. Friend on 12th October, the conditions of appointment for service overseas differ greatly from those at home.
