Mr. McGovern

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the number of boys and girls in Glasgow, under 14 years of age, who have been prosecuted between 1st January, 1937, and 1st January, 1938, and each year up to October, 1943; and the number between 14 and 18 years of age for similar periods, respectively?

Mr. Johnston

I append tables giving the information desired in respect of children and young persons under 14 and between 14 and 17. Separate figures for those between 17 and 18 are not available without special inquiries involving considerable expenditure in time and labour.
