§ Major Procterasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will consider in the next Budget waiving the condition under which persons with small capital, say £2,000, are now assessed for old age pension purposes at the specified rates on investment, the object of such exemption being to encourage thrift?
§ Sir J. AndersonThe future of noncontributory old age pensions, to which the condition referred to applies, is under consideration by His Majesty's Government in connection with the Beveridge Report as part of the wider question of old age pensions. I cannot anticipate the conclusions which may be reached.
