HC Deb 20 October 1943 vol 392 c1398W
Mr. Hammersley

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can give the House any further information on the repatriation of civilian internees from the Far East?

Mr. Law

Every effort is being made to bring about the further exchange of 1,600 civilian internees from the Far East and the British Commonwealth respectively, to which reference was made in the reply given to my hon. Friend by my right hon. Friend the Foreign Secretary on 5th May last. There are various difficulties to be overcome, but I hope these will be solved.
