The salaries vary according to the scales in force in each area. The initial salaries for new entrants who hold an ordinary degree range from £200–£235 for men and from £180–£215 for women. Honours graduates teaching their special subjects in a secondary school receive initial salaries varying from £250–£280 for men and from £200–£235 for women.
