HC Deb 19 October 1943 vol 392 c1242W
Mr. Lindsay

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what are the number of places in the camp schools; how many are filled; which educational authorities are using the schools; and on what basis children are selected or invited to attend them?

Mr. Johnston

There is accommodation for 1,062 children in the five camp schools in Scotland. At 9th October, 1943, 603 children were resident in the camp schools. The schools are used by the education authorities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee. The children selected by the education authorities are normal children between the ages of 8 and 12 years whose parents desire them to be evacuated to the camp schools.
