HC Deb 14 October 1943 vol 392 cc1071-2W
Miss Rathbone

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that the physician who is head of the Physical Medicine Department of the Royal Free Hospital and of its branch evacuated to Arlesey has been refused any petrol allowance for his weekly visits to Arlesey on the ground that he is not employed by the Ministry of Health having preferred to give his services without remuneration; that both remuneration and travelling expenses were refused to the doctor who acted as visiting locum tenens during his holiday; and whether this matter can be reconsidered?

Mr. E. Brown

I am informed that an allowance of petrol has been granted to the physician referred to by my hon. Friend for his visits to Arlesey. On the related question of payment for the use of his car and on the matters referred to in the second part of the Question, it appears that there has been some misunderstanding, and I am having further inquiries made.
