asked the Minister of Labour the total figures, up to the last available date, of prosecutions and imprisonment, separately, instigated by his Department for offences that were not punishable before the outbreak of war, men and women, respectively?

Up to 31st August, 1943, the total number of workers prosecuted in England and Wales for the offences mentioned in the Question was:

Men 14,072
Women 3,067

Of these, 1,255 men and 199 women were sentenced to imprisonment.
