Mr. Mainwaring

asked the Minister of Health whether the responsible authority for any hospital is entitled to obtain possession of the pension book and payments due to a pensioner who has entered the institution for treatment?

Mr. E. Brown

No, Sir. The pensioner is free to appoint any person whom he chooses to draw the pension on his behalf.

Mr. Mainwaring

asked the Minister of Health whether he will inquire of the Glamorgan County Council and its public assistance committee the nature of the advice issued to relieving officers when dealing with patients, who are also in receipt of old age and contributory pensions, when entering any hospital under their control?

Mr. Brown

I will make inquiries and communicate with my hon. Friend.
