§ Sir H. Williamsasked the Minister of Information whether his attention was drawn to the fact that on the 9 o'clock news of the B.B.C. on 23rd September about seven-tenths of the time was devoted to the speeches of the Minister of Labour, the Secretary to the Treasury and a Parliamentary Private Secretary, the sole full supporters of the proposal to direct women up to 51 years of age, and only three-tenths of the time to 12 other speakers who opposed the proposals; is he aware that on the midnight news reference was made only to the speeches of the two Ministers and the Parliamentary Private Secretary; and will he take steps to ensure that in future the B.B.C. Parliamentary Reports are better balanced?
§ Mr. BrackenI have no reason whatever to think that this account of the Debate on Man-Power was anything but an890W honest attempt by impartial reporters to give a fair summary of the discussion. With regard to the last part of the Question, I have no intention of interfering with the B.B.C.'s reporting of the proceedings of the House and I do not think that it is the general desire of hon. Members that I should do so.
