HC Deb 12 October 1943 vol 392 c733W
Sir L. Lyle

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, taking the chief demands upon post-war planning and development of all kinds in which the State is expected to assist, he can state the approximate aggregate estimated cost and how such cost is subdivided?

Sir J. Anderson

The Beveridge Report and the White Paper on Educational Reconstruction include detailed estimates of the cost involved in the proposals examined in those papers. On other important questions on which consideration is advancing, the stage has not been reached at which it is possible to publish estimates of cost.
