HC Deb 12 October 1943 vol 392 cc731-2W
Mr. De la Bère

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, with a view to safeguarding this country against a repetition of the unemployment which existed prior to 1939 the Government are now in a position to make a pronouncement indicating the policy they intend to adopt, with a view to maintaining the correct balance in this country between the productive capacity and purchasing power?

Sir J. Anderson

For the present I do not think it necessary to add to the statements made by my predecessor and by my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade, in the Debates of 2nd and 3rd February last on the Motion of my hon. Friend the Member for Horsham (Earl Winterton).
