asked the Secretary of State for India the monthly pay of lieut.-colonels, majors, captains, lieutenants, and second-lieutenants of British units in India; and the deduction for Income Tax?

MR. AMERY, pursuant to his reply [OFFICIAL REPORT, 23rd September, 1943; Col. 454, Vol. 392] supplied the following statement.

Indian pay of Emergency Commissioned officers, under 30 years of age, of the British Service (excluding Royal Engineers, Royal Signals and Royal Artillery officers serving with Indian units) when serving with British units in India applicable to Officers commissioned before 1st January, 1942, and who are in receipt of Category B rates as laid down in A.0. 33/42.
