asked the Minister of Health whether he is now in a position to announce the constitution and terms of reference of the proposed committee on rent control?

Yes, Sir. As already announced, the chairman of the committee which has been appointed jointly by my right hon. Friend and my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland, will be Lord Ridley. The members will be:

  • The hon. Member for Gravesend (Sir Irving Albery).
  • The hon. Member for Gorbals (Mr. Buchanan).
  • Mr. Thomas Cassells.
  • His Honour Judge David Davies.
  • The hon. Member for Hemel Hempstead (Viscountess Davidson).
  • Mr. A. Endicott.
  • Mr. J. I. Falconer.
  • The hon. and gallant Member for North Hackney (Captain Sir Austin Hudson).
  • The hon. Member for Perth and Kinross (Mr. Hunter).
  • The hon. Member for Bow and Bromley (Mr. Key).
  • Mr. G. H. Kimpton.
  • Alderman Sir Miles E. Mitchell.
  • The hon. and gallant Member for Carnarvon (Major Owen).
  • Mr. D. C. L. Ward.

The terms of reference are: To review the question of rent control, including the working of the Rent Restrictions Acts, and to advise whether any, and if so what, changes are necessary.
