HC Deb 11 November 1943 vol 393 c1300W
Mr. Lindsay

asked the President of the Board of Education what machinery exists for earmarking potential teachers who at the moment are serving in the Forces?

Mr. Butler

The arrangements I have in mind for recruiting potential teachers among the Forces involve personal contact between suitable persons acting on behalf of the Board and serving men and women. The Service Departments have indicated their readiness to give me all possible facilities to this end as soon as circumstances permit. In the meantime, special correspondence courses are being arranged under the Army Education Scheme for those desiring to prepare themselves for entry into the teaching profession.
