HC Deb 11 November 1943 vol 393 c1310W
Mr. E. P. Smith

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will consider regulating the hours and wages of employees in the N.A.A.F.I. canteens, in view of the fact, as the case recently given to him demonstrates, young girls directed to this employment are expected to work over 80 hours per week for a wage of £1 1s.?

Mr. Bevin

I am making inquiries in the case about which the hon. Member has written to me, and I will also consider whether any action of a general nature on my part is called for.
