THE EARL OF PERTHasked His Majesty's Government whether it is now possible to indicate an approximate date by which the Committee which is examining the machinery of government will report, and whether the report of the Committee will be made available to Members of Parliament.
§ THE LORD CHANCELLOR (VISCOUNT SIMON)The Committee to which my noble friend refers is a Committee of the War Cabinet and reports to that body. It is a well-established practice, only rarely departed from, that His Majesty's Government do not give information about the work of such Committees. I regret that His Majesty's Government are unable to make an exception in this case.
House adjourned.
