§ Mr. Rileyasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, in view of the forthcoming elections in Kenya the question of direct representation of Africans on the Council will be considered; and is he aware that Kenya Africans have recently revived their demand for direct representation on the Legislature?
§ Colonel StanleyThe possibility of direct representation of Africans in the legislatures in East Africa, when the practical difficulties can be overcome, has previously received consideration at various times. A memorandum on the subject signed by certain Africans in Kenya was sent to me by post during my recent visit to East Africa. I have asked the Governor to furnish me with his observations upon it and I now await his reply.
