HC Deb 10 November 1943 vol 393 c1156W
Mr. Wootton-Davies

asked the Minister of Supply whether his attention has been called to the threatened shortage of wood pulp in Canada; and whether, in view of the probability that such shortage will become generally accentuated, he will take steps to expedite and increase the use of straw, of which we have large quantities, for the manufacture of paper and cellulose to replace wood pulp?

Sir A. Duncan

Yes, Sir. The use of straw and other materials is being extended so far as is possible within our available resources of plant and labour.
