HC Deb 10 November 1943 vol 393 c1156W
Mr. Martin

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food why, when considerable quantities of fish are arriving in the London markets, so few still appear in the retail shops?

Mr. Mabane

At the present time the quantity of fish arriving in Billingsgate is not sufficient to meet total demand or to allow more than a relatively small allocation to individual fishmongers and I have no doubt that fishmongers dispose of their stocks almost as soon as they are received.
