§ Mr. E. BrownQuestions relating to the payment of Income Tax are primarily for my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer. I understand that he is not prepared to take steps to exempt from Income Tax cash payments made in lieu of board and lodging either for nurses or for other classes of the civilian population. I am afraid that it would not be practicable to make any alteration in the present arrangements for making such allowances.
