HC Deb 06 May 1943 vol 389 c329W
Mr. Thorne

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he can given any information in connection with the four balloons which exploded on a North London site, on the night of 1st May; the estimated damage done and the total number exploded on the same site since the war started?

Sir A. Sinclair

Two balloons flying from North London sites were struck by lightning on the night of 1st May. There was no damage to adjoining property. Two other balloons flying from one of these sites were lost in similar circumstances in the preceding week, trivial damage being caused in one instance. The information asked for in the second part of the Question is not readily available.
