asked the Minister of Health how many cases of diphtheria have been recorded in immunised persons between 1st January, 1940, and 3rd December, 1942; and how many fatal cases in the immunised were recorded during 1942?

Among approximately 3,731,000 children immunised against diphtheria under local authority arrangements in England and Wales during the three years 1940, 1941 and 1942, the number of notified cases of the disease was 7,286. The number of immunised children who died from diphtheria during 1942 was 41, as compared with 1,473 deaths among non-immunised children.
