HC Deb 25 March 1943 vol 387 cc1780-1W
Major Petherick

asked the Minister of Labour for what purpose he has introduced the Specific Classes of Persons (Registration) Order, 1943, dated 27th February, 1943; and what steps have been taken to bring to the notice of the affected persons their duties under the Order?

Mr. Bevin

The object of this Order is to enable a list to be compiled from which technical commissioned officers may be obtained for the Services as and when the Government decide that men should be withdrawn for the purpose from civilian employment. The obligations placed upon certain employers to exhibit notices relating to the Order and upon individuals with specified experience or qualifications to register during the present week have been given wide publicity in the Press and by wireless.
