HC Deb 24 June 1943 vol 390 c1332W
Captain Gammans

asked the Minister of Health what instructions or guidance have been issued to local authorities regarding the relaxation of the regulations affecting overcrowding which were in force immediately prior to the war?

Mr. E. Brown

I have issued no general instructions to local authorities on this subject. I have no power to authorise a local authority to refrain from enforcing the overcrowding provisions of the Housing Act, 1936, and it is for local authorities to determine how far it is possible under existing conditions to secure observance of these provisions.
