HC Deb 10 June 1943 vol 390 cc868-9W
Mr. Perkins

asked the Postmaster General whether he has considered the letter, sent to him by the secretary of the Gloucestershire British Legion, with regard to soldiers overseas being unable to cash postal orders; and what action he proposes taking thereon?

Captain Crookshank

The normal period of validity of a postal order is six months, but this period has already been extended to nine months in the case of postal orders sent to H.M. Forces serving overseas and to the personnel in H.M. Ships. No difficulty should have been experienced in cashing the postal orders in the cases which the hon. Member has brought to my notice and the attention of the paying authorities will again be directed to the matter.
