§ Mr. Hepworthasked the Minister of Supply whether the unsatisfactory conditions at certain War Office stores, to 36W which the Comptroller and Auditor-General alluded in his Report on the Unclassified Votes for 1941–42 have now been remedied; and whether all store accounts of the Royal Ordnance factories are now satisfactory?
§ Mr. PeatThe stores referred to in the report are certain storage depots, not Royal Ordnance Factories, under the Ministry of Supply. The store accounts of the Royal Ordnance Factories are stated in the report to have been examined with generally satisfactory results. The report will be considered during the present Session by the Public Accounts Committee who will report to the House. My hon. Friend will, I am sure, appreciate that it would be inappropriate for me to make a statement in advance of the Committee's report.
