HC Deb 21 July 1943 vol 391 c904W
Major Morrison

asked the Secretary of State for War whether in view of the limited recreational facilities for troops in the Middle East Force, he will continue to allow horses in remount and other depots, when not wanted for essential transport purposes, to be ridden by soldiers off duty and on leave, as a healthy means of exercise and recreation?

Sir J. Grigg

There is no intention of discontinuing the present arrangements in the Middle East for the hire under certain conditions for recreational purposes of War Department horses not required for military duty.
