HC Deb 08 July 1943 vol 390 c2278W
Sir R. Gower

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware of the unpopularity of billeting workers from Eire; and whether, in all possible cases, hostels or empty houses will be used for their accommodation?

Mr. E. Brown

I am aware that there has been difficulty in billeting workers from Eire in certain areas. The provision of hostels for war workers is not primarily my concern, but I understand that when considered necessary, the Ministry of Labour and National Service and the Supply Departments do provide reception, and residential hostels respectively, as is found most appropriate to the area concerned.
